AOC Côtes du Marmandais
The AOC Côtes du Marmandais vineyards are in east Aquitaine, in the department of the Lot-et-Garonne. These vineyards lie in the heart of the south-west, and cover the lush hillsides of 27 communes overlooking both sides of the Garonne. The Marmandais terroirs continue from the Entre-Deux -Mers region on one side of the river, and from Graves on the other; both of these regions have a special character that is much respected by winegrowers.
The three “noble” grape varieties that are traditionally grown here are: Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, and then there are other varieties that are more typical of the region, such as Malbec, Syrah, and Abouriou, which give the Marmandais wines their colour and fruity character. Due to their warmth, generosity and aromatic finesse, the red wines, rosés and dry white wines of the AOC Côtes du Marmandais are an excellent accompaniment to the numerous gastronomic specialities of the South West. Recognized as an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Côntrolée) in 1990, this young, dynamic appellation has established a reputation for the high quality of its terroirs, the selection of grape varieties and the expertise of its winegrowers. Conviviality, passion and expertise: the wines bear the characters of their makers!
