Meeting with Thierry Planès
Can you introduce yourself ?
My name is Thierry Planès, I am 46 years old and I am from Lot et Garonne. I lived my childhood in Fauguerolles. I did an apprenticeship of chocolatier confectioner glacier in Marmande for 2 years before changing completely orientation to be animator in holiday club in Corsica but also in Sainte-Livrade ... At the same time I played in regional theater troupes and feeling Although I can no longer evolve as an actor, I finally left for Paris to take drama classes at Montmartre. This is where I discovered a passion for writing. I then wrote plays that I sent to the actors I admired and this allowed me to make beautiful encounters... At the same time, in pastime, I sculpted busts of clay clowns. I am a passionate Cirque since my childhood and the clowns are characters who immediately left me deeply marked. Throughout my work, having improved, the creators of the Bayeux circus festival contacted me so that I could produce the trophies given to the artists. I sculpted them of M. Loyal because the sculpture of a clown was already taken by the famous Festival of Monte-Carlo ... This meeting brought to light this work of sculpture of clown and I was contacted to make Exhibitions, participating in other festivals ... Strong ties were then woven with many clowns and over time I wanted to do more for these artists ... and that’s when the idea of Make a festival of Clowns germinated. This allows me to link my two passions : theater and clown art. Make a clown show in a theatrical way. I am happy to bring such an event to my city of heart.
The first edition was held successfully last year and we will continue the event from 10 to 12 February 2017.

Why did you choose the Val de Garonne ?
I come from Lot et Garonne.
When I was in Paris, I worked for a time at the FNAC of the Champs Elysées. I met a lot of people who spotted my accent ... When I told them about Lot et Garonne, Marmande often had reactions that were not very positive or absent ... These reactions were annoying me and I always thought that one day That I do something to help make the Lot et Garonne a more attractive image by bringing my « little stone ». It was in Paris in 2009, where for the first time I slept on paper « 1st Mondoclowns World Festival of clowns and eccentrics of Marmande »
A place to recommend in Val de Garonne ?
It is very difficult to state only one... The viewpoint of the Tertre at Meilhan-sur-Garonne is magnificent. The cloister in Marmande is a place where I like to ask and think. And the plain of the Filhole is also a place that I appreciate very much because it gathers, the marmandais are appropriate.
A great outing in Val de Garonne ?
I have many… ! But this professional meeting when I was a pastry chef at Mr Christian Ameline marked me. He was a pastry chef in the Rue Charles de Gaulle in Marmande. He did everything : Chocolate, confectionery, glacier. It was fascinating. I learned a lot from him : The rigor of the work, the respect of the materials used, the relationship with the customers, the « making pleasure » by creating beautiful and good things. This meeting structured me she brought me a lot.
If the Val de Garonne was a season ?
Autumn because it is a beautiful season : colors, sweetness, morning mists ... I feel that autumn condenses all the seasons of a year because there is the sweetness, and sometimes even the Warmth, freshness ... and the palette of colors is fascinating ! The contrasts of the red leaves under a blue sky with a sunset that emphasizes all this ... It is a magical season.
If the Val de Garonne was a dish ?
The stuffed tomatoes and all the vegetables stuffed because they are summer dishes, a family kitchen that highlights the products of the Val de Garonne (eggplant, potatoes, zucchini...)
If the Val de Garonne was a tree ?
Le Chêne because, on the trunk of this tree, with its asperities, one can find the furrows of the fields ... It is a majestic and surprising tree.
If the Val de Garonne was a color ?
Green is the color of hope !
If the Val de Garonne was an animal ?
The Pigeon ! That reminds me of childhood memories. My grandfather had a palombiere. He loved to bring me ... and then the palombière is the pretext for gathering to conviviality ...
If the Val de Garonne was a party ?
« Marmande en fête » This year again the Marmandans responded, came out en masse. It’s popular and I like it, it touches me.

Let people become more aware of the riches around them, be proud of what they have and what is happening at home.
If there was a photo of the Val de Garonne ?
A picture of the hillsides, a place where there are both vineyards of the land. Our hills are undulating just right... They shape a gentle landscape, a beautiful image of our territory.
Your most beautiful holiday memories ?
On the basin of Arcachon in a family house in La Hume. I spent my childhood there until I was 16 years old. It is a house that marked me enormously but also to all the people who came to it : The family friends and friends of friends ... the house was composed of many rooms and when there was no place Mounted tents in the garden under the pines. And now many years later when this house is no longer in the family, systematically at family gatherings « home » and his memories come back into conversation topics.
